About Us

Visit Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa – where rescued big cats feel at home.

At Jukani our mission is to maintain and manage a sustainable wildlife sanctuary, with the focus on creating widespread awareness about the plight of large predators in captivity, in South Africa and all over the world.

During an 80-minute walking safari led by knowledgeable guides, you’ll also encounter Raccoons, a Honey Badger, Caracals, Wild Dogs, Zebra, Springbok, and predators like the Spotted Hyena. Jukani is dedicated to educating visitors about the challenges facing apex animals.

If you’re seeking things to do in Plettenberg Bay

Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to admire big cats, including Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Pumas, and Jaguars.

These animals have been rescued or rehomed from facilities that could no longer care for them. At Jukani, they reside in a large, natural habitat designed to meet their individual needs, free from exploitation and human stress. This allows visitors to appreciate and photograph them in their natural splendor.

Jukani operates as a no-touch, #HandsOff facility. Interaction with the wild animals is not permitted, and all animals are sterilized, so no babies will be seen during your visit. We reject the pet-play-and-pay industry practices and focus on educating visitors about animal rights and the harmful impacts of such irresponsible practices.  As part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA), Jukani is funded through responsible wildlife eco-tourism, balancing conservation with economic realities. The sanctuary is accessible to all ages and fitness levels and is wheelchair friendly.

Our Guided Safaris:  We are open on all public holidays and in all weather conditions. Tours run every 15 to 20 minutes. Tours last around 80 minutes and depart from the Jukani reception area.
